Game Conduct

The Athletic Advisory
Committee urges the
University community to
express its support of our
basketball team this year
enthusiastically and
constructively, refraining from
actions harmful to the team
and the University.

Great cheers for our team
and coaches encourage them,
and are discouraging enough to
visiting teams and their
supporters without being
unsportsmanlike. However,
booing, off-color shouts, and
throwing objects on the floor
bring discredit to the
University, create dissension
among University supporters,
and can be harmful to our
team.

The Atlantic Coast
Conference office has advised
game officials for this season
that one of their duties in cases
of extreme bad sportsmanship
by spectators is to penalize the
home team with technical
fouls. Therefore,
unsportsmanlike conduct by
spectators at University Hall
this year can cause our team to
lose points, and therefore
games.

We therefore ask that all
Cavalier fans join together in
support for our team and in
good sportsmanship toward
our visitors.
