UHall Ticket Plan Revised
In Wake Of Protests, Lines

BY TOM BELL

The Athletic Advisory
Committee, acting in the wake
of numerous protests over the
new basketball ticket policy,
announced three revisions in
the plan after meeting
yesterday morning.

The most important of the
revisions limits to four the
number of tickets that may be
picked up by a single student.
Problems arose Tuesday when
students took large numbers of
identification cards to
University Hall to get tickets to
the Maryland game. The tickets
disappeared within an hour,
and many students who had
waited for most of the
afternoon came away
empty-handed.

Sneaky Students

The biggest part of the
problem, according to athletic
department officials, was that
many of those who came late
gave their cards to persons in
the front of the line.

The second revision is that
tickets will be distributed for
only one game at a time.
Tuesday's pickup was for the
first two home games, against
Maryland and Baldwin-Wallace.

Earlier Time

In addition, ticket
distribution will now start at 8
a.m. instead of 5 p.m., and the
tickets will be available at
Memorial Gymnasium as well
as at University Hall. A
schedule publicizing the pickup
will be posted in University
Hall and The Cavalier Daily.

The Committee has also
requested that students who
are unable to attend a game for
which they have tickets either
give the tickets to other
students or return them to
University Hall for
re-distribution to students on
the waiting list. "In no case,"
according to the Committee
statement, "should a student
consider selling a ticket to
another student."

The student tickets must be
presented at the gate along
with a student identification
card, and therefore, may be
used by students only.

The student members of the
Athletic Advisory Committee
made the decision to revise the
present system. They are Hugh
Antrim, Marianne McDermott.
and Richard Morris.

Tickets in the general
admission section, which were
slated to go on sale to students
today, will be sold to those
students who are on a waiting
list made up of students who
were at University Hall on
Tuesday, but were unable to
get tickets. The exact number
of tickets which will be
available was not known as of
yesterday afternoon.
