With only post season
classics remaining to forecast,
the Cavalier Daily panel of
experts, battling for some
semblance of credibility after a
disastrous week, is still
susceptible to major scrambling
of the ranks with a heavy slate
this holiday.

John Markon, the disgusting
D.C. area transplant, holds a
slim five-game edge on the field
of nine very hungry pursuers
with no one mathematically
out of the money.

Heading the program this
week is everyone's choice for
this year's Big Game, Nebraska,
No. 1, visiting Oklahoma, No.
2, Ignoring the pollsters, the
CD board takes the Sooners
over defending national
champs Nebraska. Among
those unawed by Oklahoma's
half-mile-a-game offense are
Markon, Wert, "Upset
Marshall," and the Nach. In
another contest of great
import, Wert, Docile Doug
Doughty, A.B. Cooke, and
Marshall will buck the flow to
take Auburn's
Sullivan-against-the-world
offense over Alabama at
Legion Field in Birmingham.

Joining Nebraska and
Oklahoma on Thanksgiving
Day is the traditional
Texas-Texas A&M contest
which is a must game for the
Longhorns if they plan to lose
to Penn State in the Cotton
Bowl (editorial comment).
Only Doughty and Marshall,
obviously playing longshots for
self-aggrandizement, see the
Aggies as this year's victors.
Another Turkey Day clash has
Georgia a 6-4 choice over
neighbor Georgia Tech.
Wahugh Antrim, lackluster this
year, Doughty, Cooke, and
Marshall like Tech.

Antrim and SID Cooke
join Wert, determined to rally
from the unfamiliar depths, to
choose Clemson's
unpredictable Tigers over
South Carolina in the
"Cockpit" while Marshall
replaces Wert in the company
of the two others to take VMI
over Virginia Tech and State.

Two even selections this
week are the Florida-Miami
game and the Army-Navy
classic in Philadelphia.

One holdout prohibits
Tennessee from being
unanimous over Vandy, and
the Gastonia, N.C. wizard has
the wrong line in picking the
Vols over Penn State with
Antrim and Marshall on
December 4.
