Big Eight Frontrunners Head UPI Top Twenty

By HUGH CARTER

The Nebraska Cornhuskers
retained their top-ranked spot in
the United Press International poll
released yesterday, as the ratings
for the top ten teams in the nation
showed little change this week.

Nebraska rolled over
highly-touted Colorado last week to
strengthen its grasp on the top
position that it has held most of the
year. Oklahoma held on to its
second spot as the Sooners won
their seventh game without a loss.

The Michigan Wolverines
remained in the third slot just ahead
of fourth-rated Alabama. Both
teams are unbeaten in the first eight
contests of the season, and are
looking forward to upcoming games
with difficult opposition.

Auburn stayed in the fifth place
as it remained undefeated through
eight games. Auburn's Southeastern
Conference foe, Georgia, again was
voted number six as the Bulldogs
defeated South Carolina last
Saturday.

Penn State strengthened its
hold on the Lambeth Trophy,
