Nebraska Maintains Top Spot

Little change is noted in the top
ten this week as last week's number
five team, Colorado, vacated by
virtue of a thumping at the hands
of fellow Big Eight powerhouse,
number two Oklahoma. The other
Big Eight team in the news is
Nebraska which is still in the top
slot in the coaches poll.

Michigan of the Big Ten is still
rolling and still third with
Alabama's Crimson Tide back in
the fourth spot. Auburn, also of the
SEC, jumped from seventh to
fifth, past Notre Dame which won
unimpressively.

Georgia and Penn State, both
still undefeated and virtually
unchallenged, each moved up one
spot to seventh and eighth.
Arkansas vaulted into the ninth
position from 17th on their
stunning of Texas (which dropped
out completely), and Stanford
moved up three to round out the
top ten.

Ohio State, losers only to
Colorado, head the second ten,
followed by the Buffaloes,
Louisiana State, Arizona State, and
Houston, all once beaten.

Tennessee's Volunteers,
dropping to 3-2 after losing to
Auburn and Alabama, are 16th
with Purdue 17th.

Only 17 teams received votes.
