Paper Money Is Back

The First-year Council is
sponsoring a newspaper drive in the
old and new dorms in order to,
according to David Conrad, Project
Coordinator and Head of the
Environmental Committee, "have
the papers recycled and to make
money."

Mr. Conrad said that "the idea is
to collect newspapers every day or
every other day and take them to
the 'Dempster Dumpster'." One
dumpster is located on the
cul-de-sac on Hancock Road and
another on the sidewalk between
Lile and the Glass Hat.

The papers are carried by
Coiner's Scrap and Iron to a
processing plant in Richmond. Mr.
Conrad stated that "Coiner's gets
fifty cents per hundred pounds and
they pay the First-year Council
forty cents per hundred pounds."
Mr. Conrad expects that "we will
make $40-50 a month."

This seems a project well worth
supporting as being in everyone's
interests, but perhaps greater
success would be insured if smaller,
more pleasant receptacles were
placed more conveniently across
the Grounds.
