Streaking Stickmen To Face Alumni
Tomorrow In Baltimore Confrontation

By Tom Bell
Cavalier Daily Staff Writer

Virginia's top-rated lacrosse
team takes some time off from its
tough collegiate schedule tomorrow
as it faces an Alumni team
tomorrow morning at Mount
Washington in Baltimore.

Two first-team All-Americans
from last year's tri-national
championship team, Jim Potter and
Hilbert, will lead the Alumni
which lost 21-3 to the
diers last Spring.

otter and Hilbert are both now
playing for the undefeated Carling
Lacrosse Club. Potter, a midfielder,
was captain of the Cavaliers in 1969
and 1970, while Hilbert was the
mainstay of the Cavalier defense
last year.

Other former All-Americans
who will play for sure are goalies
Deeley Nice ('62) and Bo Moore

('54). Jimmy Franklin ('63) will
lead the Alumni attack. Last year,
the Alumni sported between 12 and
15 former All-Americans, and at
least as many are expected for
Saturday's game.

The game will be a tune-up for
the Cavaliers, who will face
Maryland in a crucial game next
Saturday in Charlottesville.

The high scoring attack will
again lead the Cavalier effort,
backed up by the defense which
had its best day of the year in the
11-7 victory over Navy last
weekend. Jay Conner continues to
lead the team in scoring with 32
points after a goal and an assist
against Navy. Tom Duquette's three
goals and one assist last week
moved him closer to Conner with
27 points.

High scoring midfielder Pete
Eldredge moved into third place in
team scoring with his three goal
performance against Navy. He now
has 20 points on 15 goals and five
assists, one ahead of attackman
Rick Beach, who has 19 points.
Midfielder Doug Cooper is the only
other Cavalier in double figures
with 14 points.
