Terps Triumph In Golf Tourney
Cavaliers Capture Third Place

Six golfers carried the Cavalier
banner into the University of
Maryland's Spring Golf Classic last
weekend and finished with strong
third place team score in the ninth
team field.

Favored host Maryland nudged
East Carolina to win the tourney
with the Wahoo sextet third by one
stroke after two rounds of play
were completed. After the first day
of shooting, Cavalier captain Britt
Stenson, from Greenwich,
Connecticut, was only one stroke
off the pace with a one under par.
Stenson, however, experienced
difficulty the next day while
teammate Mike Mozur toured the
grounds in 72 strokes, just one over
par. Mozur of Birmingham,
Alabama wound up with the low
individual score for the team,
shooting five over par golf for the
two rounds.

Virginia's six representatives in
the tournament in addition to
Stenson and Mozur were Phil
Crane, Bob Dunn, King Ochmig,
and Tom MacPhearson.

Other schools entering teams in
the tournament included Murray
St., Canisius, Lehigh, Indiana
University of Pennsylvania, George
Washington, and American
University.
