Fencers Foil
This Monday, the Virginia
Fencing Team begins practice
for its 1970-71 season. This
year could be a promising one
for the swordsmen as all nine
positions will be filled by experienced
fencers.
Although last year's team sported
a dismal 4-6 record, the swordsmen
were in all but three of the
contests right to the end. All of last
year's members will be returning
this season with the exception of
Captain Evan Robinson, who is
studying in Paris. Obviously, his
presence will be missed until his
return to action next year.
This season, the swordsmen will
be led by foilist Steve Hatten.
Hatten has been named
all-conference for the last three
years, and finished in second place
for two consecutive years in the
Southeastern Conference Championships.
During the season last
year, Halley had an excellent 25-1
record and is looking forward to
another good year.
