IM Roundup
Tie In Division A
IM football moves into its final
stage next week with three of the
four division crowns all wrapped
up. The other division wound up
with a three way tie for first place.
Sigma Chi, SAE and Zete all
finished the pigskin season with
701 records in Division A to tie for
the top spot. SAE just managed to
best Sigma Pi 14-13 Wednesday as
the SAE defense prevented Sigma
Pi from scoring the typing extra
point in overtime. Sigma Chi
lambasted Pi Lambda 34-0 as five
men scored and Zete downed
Kappa Alpha by 20-6. Mel Wraydin
tallied two touchdowns.
In the playoff for the Division B
and Mad Lane championships Phi
Gam edged St. Anthony's by 14-7
as Peter Drake crossed the goal line
for the deciding points.
By virtue of early wins over title
contenders ATO and Chi Phi, Pi
Kap, won the crown in Division C
with the aforementioned finishing
second and third, respectively.
Because ZBT had already won
Division D's kudos, the best PiKA
could do was second which they
did as they downed Phi Kap 19-0.
Tom Boyer tallied two touchdowns
to lead PiKa.
In the only other scheduled
game Wednesday Phi Delt buried
PEP 53-18.
The three team logjam in Division
A will be settled somewhat
undemocratically. First there will
be a coin flip to determine which
team draws a bye. The other two
will play for the championship with
the loser opposing the bye" team
for the right to play in the
runner-up's tournament.
