Wahoos Bowl Bound! Director Of Conventions,
Tourists Invites All Cavaliers To Festival

By Bob Nigro

It has been a long time coming,
Wahoo fans, but believe it or not,
the Cavalier gridmen have been
invited to participate in a national
bowl game!

Yes, it is all true. Plans have
been underway for over a year.
There promises to be a week of
parades, princesses, celebrities,
concerts, and over 30 great-looking
girls.

Mr. Carlton Duffus, Executive
Director of the extravaganza,
reports that this is now the largest
sporting event of its kind on the
cast coast.

This Saturday, the second one in
October, will forever go down in
the annals of sport as a great one. It
will mean to the gracious citizens of
Richmond what the first Saturday
in May means to the folk of
Louisville, or what the last
Saturday in November means to the
cadets at both Army and Navy.
For, sports fans, this Saturday
Richmond City Stadium will be the
site of the Twentieth Annual
National Tobacco Festival. In the
feature attraction our own Wahoos
will bump heads with the mighty
Keydets of VMI.

This afternoon in an exclusive
interview with the CD sports
department, Mr. Ed Brill, Director
of Tourists, Conventions and Public
Relations of the Richmond City
Chamber of Commerce, as well as a
veteran member of the Bowl
Committee, extended a warm welcome
to all Virginia students who
endeavor to make the trip to his
fair city. Although the game is not
until Saturday, he stated that there
are many great events during Bowl
Week that could warrant missing a
few classes to see.

Things get off to a raucous start
Thursday night. Apparently the
Band Committee has spared no
expense in booking a truly top
group for a concert to be staged in
the Mosque. None other than
Homer and Jethro will be the main
attraction, with accompaniment to
be supplied by Virginia's own Blue
Ridge Boys.

Realizing that country music
might not be everyone's cup of tea,
this year they scheduled another
group for a concert to be given
Friday afternoon. Keeping in mind
that most students seem to prefer
sounds of a guitar or a similar
dulcet instrument, the committee has
booked the immortal Ferko Wonder
Bread String Band.

Following this concert will be
the Grand Illuminated Parade up
Broad Street. With over 40 floats
and some of the top marching
bands in the country, including an
ROTC Drill Team, this event truly
is the largest parade on the East
Coast.

Saturday will be action-packed
from Kickoff at 1:30 until the end
of the Tobacco Ball early Sunday
morning. During half-time Peter
Graves, star of Mission Impossible,
will crown the Tobacco Queen, to
be chosen from over 30 princesses
who have traveled from as far off as
Nottoway County to vie for the
Crown.

This truly promises to be a
weekend of wine, women, song,
and a winning football game. Don't
miss it if you get a chance.
