Once again this Friday, the
pigskin prognosticators, who are
famous throughout the University
for their never-questioned prowess,
look into their crystal balls and
come out with a great diversification
of speculations.
The Cavalier Daily soothsayers
do concur however on the outcome
of the Pittsburgh at Duke, South
Carolina at Georgia and the N.C.
State at Miami games with Duke.
Georgia and Miami picked to win.
respectively. From there, each prognosticator
must be responsible for
his own picks.
Looking at past records, those in
doubt should take into account the
choices of the leaders. Editor Bob
Cullen is tied for first places honors
with Gordy Rawles, but on grounds
of experience perhaps Cullen's
picks are the winners. But on the
other hand Rawles out-did Cullen
last week by going against the odds
and farseeing a Purdue upset over
the Notre Dame Irish. Both Leaders
are sporting a fine 15-3 record. As
Rawles moved to tie for first. Hugh
Antrim dropped to tie for third
despite his surprise pick of the
winner in the Wake Forest upset
over VPI. Gino Giannini and Bill
Reese tie for second, while Barney
Cooke, Dave Marshall, and Ted
McKean bring up the rear.
These illustrious men are split
evenly on the outcome of the
Tulane-Boston game and the
Vandy-North Carolina contest.
Even with these contests, all eyes
will be on the Wahoos as they take
on the Injuns down at Williamsburg
at 1:30 p.m. The mystics felt that
the Cavalier-William and Mary game
need not take up extra space, for in
their eyes the Wahoos can do no
wrong Saturday.
