Netmen Face Tarheels
Tourney Starts Thursday

North Carolina offers the last
obstacle to Coach Burris' 14-2
netters, and the Cavaliers' showdown
with the Tar Heels is
scheduled for ten this morning in
Chapel Hill.

Boasting an outstanding 15-1
slate, the University of North
Carolina has lost only to Clemson,

The travelling Virginians will
rate the role of the underdog this
morning, but Coach Burris' troupe
have surprised before. Chapel Hill
will be but a brief stop on the
Cavaliers' final road trip; the
Virginia team will head for Raleigh
after the morning match to get in a
round of practice before the ACC
tournament begins on Thursday.

The Cavaliers will be going for
broke in this tourney. According to
Coach Burris, there is "not a weak
team in it ... the tournament is a
toss up."

Virginia finished sixth last season
in Raleigh, but this year's fine
performance has earned the netters
such a combination of seedings that
the Cavaliers could finish as high up
as third, overall.

Clemson is the strong favorite,
and North Carolina, regardless of
today's encounter with Virginia,
should be seeded second. Then
comes the fight with South Carolina
for third.

A final comment from Coach
Burris, "We're going down to win
it."
