Cavalier Lacrosse Team
Whips Alumni Club, 5-3

In the stickmens' annual spring
alumni game, preceding the alumni
football game, Coach Beardmore's
varsity triumphed, 5-3.

The varsity took a quick 2-0
lead in the first quarter on a goal by
first-year middle Pete Eldredge and
another by first-year attackman
Doug Tarring. Both assists came
from Jay Connor.

But the alumni struck back on a
score from John Stewart. He was
assisted by past Cavalier middie,
John Davies.

Connor came up with a goal in
the second quarter to push the
score up to 3-1. Then Frank
Quayle, playing with the alumni
due to his professional football
status, score to make the tally at
intermission, 3-2.

The rest of the varsity's scoring
came in the third period. Pete Kirk
got his only goal of the afternoon
on another assist from Connor.
Then Eldredge came up with his
second tally of the game to end the

Cavaliers scoring at 5-2.

Doug Croker made the score 5-3
for the alumni in the last period.

Navy's highly touted team will
provide the next competition for
the Cavaliers this Saturday at
University Hall Field. Coach
Beardmore's team has only one loss
in five starts and Navy is expected
to be a test to Virginia's strength.
