Harvey Sets Mark
In Triple Jump

Mike Harvey, the Cavaliers'
outstanding broad jumper and
triple jumper, continued his winning
ways this past weekend by
scoring two first places in the South
Carolina Relays in Columbia. One
of the track team's tri-captains,
Harvey triple jumped 49′6″, topping
the previous record by 11
inches. Earlier in the day, Harvey
took the long jump with a 22′11″
effort, far short of his all-time best
of 24′10″.

Virginia also picked up points
when George Hawkins took fifth
place in the high jump at a height
of 6′4″. The Cavaliers will be in
action again Wednesday afternoon
when they meet VMI at Lambeth
Field. In the final dual meet of the
winter season, the Virginia trackmen
defeated the Keydets, 63-55,
winning the last event, the mile
relay. The Cavalier thinclads will be
pointing for their third consecutive
win of the spring season.
