Zete Tops IM Standings

With the meteorological end of
winter another High Point
Intramural season has drawn to a
close with only slight shakeups in
the standings. By tabulating the
newly earned winter points with
last fall's points the Zete house has
maintained its dominance in the
scoring totals. The Zetes have
massed 1390 points to outdistance
SPE by 170 points. SPE forged
ahead of Phi Kap, the fourth place
house which fell from a number
two Fall ranking, by virtue of the
High Point Bowling Championship.
St. Anthony edged out Phi Kap for
third place by winning the Squash
and Swimming Championships.
SAE, the Basketball champions, is
fifth, followed by Phi Gam and Phi
Delt. Chi Phi. Phi Psi and Pika
round out the top ten.

To kick off the spring sports
schedule the softball season will
open on Monday, April 7. The
teams, playing in Mad Bowl, Scott
Stadium and on Nameless Field,
will wind up the season with
championship games beginning on
Wednesday, April 30.

The qualifying rounds in Golf
will be held at the Keswick Club
beginning a week from Friday. The
qualifiers will be based on one 18
hole score. In its initial year the
put-put competition will begin on
April 14.

The wrestling trials start tomorrow
and last until the last week in
April, when the finals begin on
Monday, April 28.

In Track and Field the final day
for entries is the Friday of Easters
Weekend. On May 1 the finals for
the field events will be held. The
qualifying heats of the running
events will also begin but will last
until Friday, May 5, when the finals
will be held.

In late April great joy for all
pledges occurs - The Stumblefoot
Derby. For the edification of all
you curious onlookers and(or)
fleet-footed pledges The
Stumblefoot Derby occurs
annually. It begins with about 400
runners all lined up along one end
of Bonnycastle Dell. Amid flailing
elbows and flying mud the runners
start their two and a half mile
course on the starter's whistle.
Some jogging, most running, the
thinly clad pledges work their way
through the woods, down
Alderman Road, Down Stadium
Road, behind the E School and
back to the Dell. With the
pulsating, but happy, hearts the
winners are heralded by all their
brothers. The losers are not.
