IM Basketball Playoffs Begin

Four Teams Undefeated

After a season characterized by
many tough contests, the IM
basketball championships will be
determined in playoffs starting
tonight.

In elimination action this
Tuesday night St. A's wiped out
Theta Chi's hopes, 48-30. Tom
Meade and Henry Dudley led St. A
with performances of 15 and 12
points.

The Dekes advanced to a
playoff with St. A as they downed
Chi Psi, 50-36.

SAE protected its undefeated
record by claiming Sigma Pi as their
victim, 50-36. High man for the
SAE's was Sam Harvey who
collected 13 points.

Steve Brickman paced the
AePi's with 14 points, while
defeating KA. 35-33, in the last
minute of playing time. Charles
Blackman hit for 12 points in the
KA losing effort.

Chi Phi upped their record as
they closed out the season with a
win over St. Elmo, 58-38. Second
yearman Albie Roosendaal led Chi
Phi scoring 18 points. Neither of
the two teams will go to the
playoffs.

This past season has not been a
very fruitful one for Kappa Sig and
last night was not an exception.
They lost 44-31 to Phi Delt.
Norman Cowgill led the Phi Delts
totalling 14 points.

In a battle of the undefeateds
ATO edged SPE, 48-47. The SPE's
were leading at the half but ATO
fought back to take it in the end.
Jim Noland was the high man in the
game with 14 points for the SPE
House and ATO's Harry Wilson
scored 12.

Both SPE and ATO will go to
the playoffs on their past records.

DU finished out its season with
a win over ZBT. The Zebes never
got going in the 50-39 loss as
Robert Poole managed a 21 point
performance for DU.

Phi Kap and Pi Lambda fought
it out in their season's finale. Phi
Kap romped 62-36 on a sparkling
performance by Bobby Bischoff
who hit for 21 points.

Zete protected its unblemished
mark with a 59-30 rout of PEP.
Tyler Harris made 22 points for the
Zete House and Pete Fagin matched
the performance for the PEP's.

Two more teams, Phi Psi and
Phi Sig finished the season Tuesday
night. Ph Sig was whalloped by Phi
Psi, 70-47. Phi Psi's leading scorer
was Jim Reibel with 18 points.
David Tanner led Phi Sig with 14
points.

In the last game of the night
Sigma Nu got by SAM 49-37. Keith
Lawder made 17 points in a losing
cause for the SAM's.

Sigma Chi, Beta, and unbeated
Phi Gam were not in action.

In the opening rounds of the
playoffs tonight the games featured
will be SAE vs. SPE and Phi Gam
vs. Sigma Nu. The undefeated
ATO's and Zetes will also be in
action.
