Face Terps Today
Mermen Dunk Keydets
By Hugh Antrim
Cavalier Daily Staff Writer
Warming up for the swimming
meet with Maryland this afternoon,
Coach Ralph Law's mermen
dunked the Keydets of VMI, 66-38.
The Cavaliers wasted little time in
Lexington, picking up six of the
first eight events, to register victory
number eight against only one loss.
On the verge of toppling a
school record in the 50 yard
freestyle all season, Nelson
Workman finally accomplished this
feat Friday evening. Workman
whizzed by 50 yards in :23.1
seconds, a rather long 0.1 second
faster than his previous efforts.
Virginia entertains the
University of Maryland's swimming
team this afternoon in the
catacombs of Memorial
Gymnasium. Undoubtedly the
toughest competition that the
mermen have faced thus far, the
Terrapins present quite a challenge
and promise some talented
performers.
