Playoffs Begin Today For Football Title

The regular season of the IM
High Point Football is all over. The
real nitty gritty is about to begin.
Eight teams, consisting of the
champions and runner ups of each
division will begin play this afternoon.
The winners of today's games
will advance to the semi-finals on
Monday with the champion to be
crowned next Wednesday.
Today's schedule includes the
following: Zete (8-0) meets St. A
(6-1) and ZBT (6-2) entertains Phi
Kap (7-1). In the other bracket,
SPE (7-1) goes against Phi Gam
(7-0) and ATO (7-1) plays Phi Delt
(6-2).
In Monday's action, ATO defeated
ZBT by the score of 18-12
and gained the championship of
Division B. ZBT was the runner up.
In another playoff to determine the
champion of Division C, Phi Kap
and Phi Delt played to a scoreless
tie, however Phi Kap gained a 1-0
victory as a result of gaining the
most yards in an extra period.
Division A concluded their regular
season on Monday. Beta conquered
Sigma Pi 28-18 while Chi
Phi won in overtime defeating SAM
7-6. Zete kept its record unblemished
by smashing DU 39-0. SPE
won by forfeit over Phi Sig.
In volleyball action Thursday
night, seven teams remained undefeated
through the first four
games. In Division A Phi Kap has
now run their winning streak to 44
straight triumphs. This is over a
four year period. DU (3-0) beat Pi
Kap (1-3) and Phi Gam (2-2) bested
Sigma Phi (0-3). Also in Division A
Phi Delt (2-1) topped Kappa Sig
(1-2).
Division B saw St. A (4-0) and
Chi Phi (4-0) remain undefeated as
they knocked off Sigma Nu (1-3)
and PEP (2-2) respectively. Also,
Theta Delt (1-3) toppled SAM (0-3)
and AEPi (3-1) won over Deke
(2-2).
Action in Division C was limited
to three games. Theta Chi (4-0)
beat TKE (1-3) to stay unbeaten
and Zete (4-0) did likewise by
defeating Phi Psi (2-2). In the third
game Beta (2-2) downed Delta Sig
(1-3).
PiKA (4-0), the only undefeated
team in Division D, beat winless Phi
Sig (0-4) and ATO (3-1) toppled
SPE (2-2), while KA (1-3) beat St.
Elmo (0-3).
