Hopkins Here In 'Must' Game

Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in
Scott Stadium the Cavaliers face
John Hopkins in their most important
game to date. Both teams
are undefeated in collegiate play
and both teams have lost only one
game-to the same club, Mt. Washington.
The Cavaliers fell to the
Mounties by 14-6 while Hopkins
lost 16-14.

After tying for last year's championship,
Hopkins has had only
to replace two starters and has
fifteen returning lettermen. With
this strong contingent of stickmen
they have rolled over Yale, Washington
College and a surprisingly
strong Princeton team which had
tied Maryland the week before.

A few men that make their team
go are All-American attackman
Joe Cowan who will be guarded
by the Cavalier All-American Pete
Coy, and their second team
All-American attackman Phil
Kneip. The Cavaliers' Coach
Buddy Beardmore is familiar
with Kneip who was under Beardmore's

illustration
tutelage at Severn School
in Maryland.

Hopkins has another second
team All-American in sophomore
defenseman Mike Clark, and All-American
Geoff Berlin.

Both the defense and attack are
strong points for the Hopkins
team. In the midfield however,
the Cavaliers have the advantage.
Tad Joerdans and Doug Hilbert
have been handling the crucial
face-offs and Sandy Archibald,
Scott Montgomery, Jim Carrington,
and Chuck Edwards will be
trying to get the ground balls. Jim
Potter, Rick Morrow, and Charlie
Rullman will be helping out.

The Cavalier middles will have
to use their speed and quickness
to control the ball. The game will
be ball control against Hopkins'
great offense.
