Parsons: Number One Team
In defiance of all the recognized
football polls, The Cavalier Daily
has come up with the one team
truly deserving of the coveted ranking
of Number One in the Nation.
If there were any other unbiased
observers on the sporting
scene they would undoubtedly support
our nomination of the
mighty eleven of Parsons College
for that exalted position.
The record speaks for itself.
In their last game of the season,
the lowans humbled the Spiders
of Richmond by a score of 23-0.
This was the selfsame Richmond
team that had earlier conquered
William & Mary by a score of
16-7.
William & Mary had beaten
Navy earlier in the year and the
Midshipmen had already demonstrated
their superiority over Syracuse.
Last weekend
thoroughly trounced the Bruins of
UCLA 32-14. The Beban-led
UClans had a tie with Oregon
State to their credit, and it was
this same Oregon State aggregation
that defeated the present
holders of the number one ranking,
the Trojans of Southern
California.
