Lee Home–211 Georgetown
Road. Route 29 to Barracks Road
(Route 654) and proceed west
approximately one mile to
Georgetown Road (Route 656)
and turn right. Follow the green
arrow. Of special horticultural
interest are the beautiful
flowering shrubs and wildflowers
planned for low maintenance in a
woods of second growth
hardwood. Azalea nudiflora,
Kalmia (mountain laurel) and
huckleberry are indigenous. The
azaleas and most of the
rhododendron have been grown
from seeds or cuttings by the
owner on the site. The nursery
contains a number of small
rhododendron of new and
unusual varieties. Mr. and Mrs.

Kennett Hinks Home–Ivy,
Virginia. Route 250 west, one
half mile beyond the village of
Ivy. This contemporary house,
built in 1962, is one of three
homes on Turner Mountain,
Protected by simple plantings, all
perennials, it was planned for
retirement living and to require
little care. The main entrance
commands a fine view of the
mountains and rolling
countryside. The high-ceilinged
living room opens onto a cheerful
garden room that overlooks the

7 Farmington
Drive–Farmington Follow Route
250 west, from the city to the
Farmington entrance. This
charming bi-level house is
highlighted by a piece of
Florentine sculpture, Lebrezza
with outstretched arms. The
unusual color scheme in each
room complements the 18th century
antiques and paintings. Mr. and

Turner Mountain–Ivy,
Virginia. On Route 250 west, one
half mile beyond the village of
Ivy, turn right at the green arrow.
The paved access road is exactly
one mile in length. A winding
road leads up the mountain of the
same name to this attractive
house built in 1960. Of Federal
style architecture, it is on part of
a tract of land once belonging to
the Meriwether Lewis family.
