Polo Riders Are Still Unbeaten

By CHRISTINE COATES

The Virginia polo team
defeated Farmington, 11-10 in
one of the most exciting games
of the season this past Sunday.

The mud was a tremendous
disadvantage to both teams,
and the horses found it
difficult to maintain their
footing. In spite of this, both
teams played at a dangerously
fast pace, and at one point, a
Virginia player was thrown
from his horse into the arena
boards.

Riders Came From Behind

Virginia came from behind,
with the score 10-6 at the end
of the third quarter, the
Cavaliers scored five goals in
the last five minutes of the
game, defeating Farmington
by the close margin.

Captain Reid Graham was
high scorer for the game, with
a total of seven goals. Second
year man Peter Henderson
played an excellent back,
scoring two goals himself, and
enabling his teammates Roger
Steele and Mark Pirrung to
score the remaining goals.

Polo Club Has Yet To Lose

The polo team is undefeated
at present, having beaten
Middleburg Polo Club, 10-7, in
the opening game of the
season.

Will Meet Harvard Sunday

This Sunday the polo team
will play Harvard at 2:30 p.m.
at Farmington Hunt Club, five
miles out on Barracks Road.
