Cornachione Quits,
Second Aide To Go

Cavalier offensive
coordinator Sil Cornachione,
who came to the University
less than a year ago, will not
return for the 1972 football
season, head coach Don
Lawrence announced
yesterday.

Mr. Cornachione joins
former defensive coordinator
Bill Clay in departing, a
situation which leaves gaping
holes in the football coaching
staff assembled by Mr.
Lawrence after his
appointment a year ago. Mr.
Clay has accepted a position at
Virginia Tech.

No reasons were given for
Mr. Cornachione's departure
now were any future plans
disclosed. When reached for
comment yesterday, Mr.
Lawrence would not elaborate
on the resignation of his top
offensive aide.

Mr. Cornachione, 44, came
to the University after a highly
successful four year stay at
Toledo where the team was
quite successful.

Prior to coaching at Toledo
he had spent eight years at
John Carroll University in
Cleveland.
