Malletmen To Host Penn

The University polo team,
rested from a weekend without
a match and a week of
intensified training will face a
formidable team from the
University of Pennsylvania this
Sunday, 2:30 at the
Farmington Hunt Club Arena.

Hot and ready after their
close defeat of the collegiate
champion team from Yale, the
club is looking for a bright
Sunday afternoon of gut
riding.

David Banks will return to
Charlottesville from the
steeplechase scene to handle the
home ponies with his usual
expertise. Banks will ride number
one, John Stuart, will ride three for
the Virginia team. Captain Rob
Rinchart rated one goal from
Charlottesville will play number
two.

Riding back for the University
of Pennsylvania will be a Virginia
alumnus and former member of the
University polo team, Willie
McCormick from Upperville,
Virginia. McCormick was captain of
the University squad two years ago
and is now rated one goal indoors.

Classmate at the School of
Veterinary in Philadelphia Doug
Antezak will ride number two for
the opposition. Antezak is rated
one goal indoors as well as
outdoors. Playing number one will
be Mike Isen, a zero goal player
from Richmond. During the fall
season this same quaker polo team
was beaten by a Virginia squad
made up of Banks, Rinchart, and
bubble bath executive John Cutler.

Captain Rinchart, while
doctoring one of this string which
was down with a severe cough,
issued a statement to the press that
the ponies are all in excellent
condition and naturally would
perform at their peak on Saturday
(he meant Sunday).

The captain also hoped that his
teammates would be as prepared as
himself for the game.

The University was able to
reschedule their cancelled Cornell
match for Sunday May 10. Cornell
had been scheduled to play earlier
this season, but the game was
delayed.

Last week the club was unable
to play a match due to the
Farmington Horse Show, held in
the Garth Road Arena.
