McMillan Remains Undefeated

Tom McMillen, "The Pride
of Mansfield, Pennsylvania"
changed his mind last evening
before announcing where he
would go to college next fall,
giving people in Chapel Hill
and Charlottesville one more
day to bite their fingernails and
pray.

Just as it seemed that the
whole agonizing affair was
about to end, the 6-11
All-American High School
basketball player decided to
take more time to make up his
mind as to where he would
play freshman ball this winter.
Reports early yesterday
afternoon stated that he would
certainly - sign with the Tarheels -
but the soft-spoken
foreward changed his mind for
some reason at the last
minute.

At 8:30 last evening a story
came across the UPI wires
stating he was angry at
Carolina for releasing
seemingly false information to
the press and because of this he
was going to wait another day.
Some reports had it that UNC
had signed him two weeks ago.
In addition, in this month's
issue of the North Carolina
Alumni Magazine a story on
recruiting stated in almost
certain terms that he would go
to Chapel Hill and there was
nothing to worry about.

McMillen's final decision
will be made this evening at
dinnertime, and at this point
he is still considering Virginia
and UNC.
