His Famed Whistle About To Explode, Mr. Carmichael Casts A Critical Eye

Coach Bill Gibson's Contingent Faces Pitt Panthers In Saturday Night Home Tilt

Returning to the spirited whistling
of Mr. Carmichael, Virginia's
most famous and faithful fan,
Coach Gibson's five reappear at
University Hall for the final four
games of their 1967-68 season.
Meeting the University of Pittsburgh
on Saturday night, the Cavaliers
will need all the support the
vibrating lips of Mr. C. and his
cohorts can give them as they
return from a three-game losing
road trip.

Shuttling down from the steel
mills of the three-river city, the
Panthers offer a large and muscular
team led by sophomores Mike
Patcher and Bob Petrini. At the
end of sixteen games, the Pennsylvanians
have posted a 6-10 record.
The Cavaliers record to date is
6-14, and have the added incentive
of last year's 82-70 win over
the Panthers.

After the Pittsburgh contest,
Virginia will play three important
ACC games. On February 19th
Wake Forest will travel to Charlottesville,
preceding visits by
mighty North Carolina on Saturday
of Midwinters and Maryland
on the 28th.
