Graham, Sefcik Pace
OT Win Over Hokies

By DOUG DOUGHTY

A combination of the
dead-eye outside shooting of
guard Bob Sefcik and the
ferocious rebounding of
Spencer "Big Spence" Graham
powered the Cavalier JVs to a
96-84 overtime triumph over
Virginia Tech, Saturday night
at University Hall.

After Tuesday night's
whipping at the hands of the
Duke JVs, Coach Steve Knapp
inserted third-year man Pat
Culhane into the lineup,
naming him as captain after
Culhane's team-leading 13
points against the Blue Devils.

Culhane (0-7 from the
field) did not furnish any
added firepower. But the slack
was more than taken up by
Sefcik, Graham and the third
member of the varsity playing
JV ball, Brian Tully.

Only Graham, who had an
astonishing 20 rebounds in the
first half, kept his teammates
in the ballgame. Yet, midway
through the second half, the
baby 'Hoos exploded, as guard
Bubba Samll harrassed the
Hokie ball-handlers into
numerous errors while setting
up Tully and Sefcik for soft
outside jumpers.

For the game, Sefcik scored
33 points, Tully 23 and
Graham 21. Graham's 28
rebounds and Sefcik's 33
points were both highs for the
JVs this season.
