Sullivan's Catches, Mullins' Returns
Continue To Spice Up Virginia Stats

George Allen (17) Calls The Play As Dave Sullivan (44) And Chuck Belic (30) Listen
Having passed the halfway
juncture in its season, the
football team has now
managed to break even in the
win column with a 3-3 record.
With the large number of
injuries incurred and the
juggling of key personnel that
has occurred thus far, only
fourth-year end Dave Sullivan
has managed to compile any
outstanding statistics for the
season.
"Sully", coming off a game
against VMI in which he hauled
in seven passes for 133 yards
(the third best game ever for a
Virginia receiver), is now only
increasing his lead as the
greatest all-time receiver in
Wahoo history in any category.
Currently leading the ACC CD/Bob Humphrey
and ranked sixth in the nation,
Ace Returner Gerard Mullins
average of 13.4 yards per
reception. In addition, he is
leading the team in six-pointers
with four.
A newcomer to the varsity
stats column is first-year man
Scott Gardner who came up
with some eye-poppers in his
varsity debut this weekend
Racking up 247 yards against
VMI, Gardner had the second
highest total of the season for a
first-year quarterback in the
nation.
Gardner compiled his
statistics by rushing for 61
yards and completing 10 of 19
passes for 186 yards. In
addition, he passed for two
touchdowns and ran for two
others.
Another Cav who is moving
up in the stats is punt returner
Gerard Mullins. Mullins broke a
return for 52 yards this past
weekend that raised his average
to 13.0 per punt.
