Ragtime?
famous Maple Leaf Rag. The
choice of tempo, which is
breakneck, is apparently an
attempt to hide the artist's
emotional incompatibility
with this music, and there are,
I regret to say, a number of
lamentable finger faults.
Nevertheless, all serious
collectors of piano records
should own this album – not
because it demonstrates how
ragtime should not be played
but because, like the David
Cassidy album above, this
disaster will be worth a fortune
in 25 years, since most people
won't be daffy enough to buy
it now, and RCA wouldn't date
issue it again.
