Receiver Bob Bischoff Snagged Six Troup Aerials

Troup Threw To Bischoff For 114 Of His 198 Passing Yards

Saturday saw the gridders
fall to UNC, but it also saw a
member of the Virginia 'Grid
Machine' enter the ranks of
"Wahoo Immemorial". Bob
Bischoff, this week's player of
the week caught six passes
good for 114 yards - the latter
figure good for sixth place for
single game reception yardage.

Pleased Performer

Bischoff, a fourth year-man
from Richmond, naturally was
pleased when informed of his
accomplishment. "It's hard enough
to concentrate on the game," he
said, "much less worrying about
records." Continuing in this light
Bob said, "The team now wants to
bring home a 7-4 ledger. We'll
forget about UNC and try to break
out of the ACC cellar."

Checking the record books, one
can readily see that Bob is no
newcomer to the stats. He now is
concurrently in both the fourth and
sixth notches of the single game
ladder. Last season versus Tulane's
'Green Wave', Bischoff snatched
seven tosses for 117 yards.

Receiving Records

With 498 yards caught last
season, Bischoff is in fourth place
in most season yardage. Fifth place
awaits Bischoff for career yardage
on receptions.

Besides football Bob finds time
for government studies, his major.
He is also an active brother of the
Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, which
he has contributed to ever since he
came to the University from
Thomas Jefferson High School in
Richmond.

Diversions for Bob (when time
permits) are hunting and fishing. "I
really love the outdoors," he said.
"Camping out is great fun, and it's
sure a heckuva change from life on
the football field and around the
books."

Back in his high school days
Bischoff was well known around
Virginia track and field circles. His
prize event was the triple jump. It
was in this event that he went 46
feet and placed third in the state.
"Tinkering with hurdles was okay
but triple jumping was my bag," he
said. Bob also didn't do too badly
in the long jump, but he often
scratched and it was this tendency
that hurt him at the state contest.

May Run Track

After football season is over,
Bischoff is toying with the idea of
running track again. "I'd like to
give it a try," he said. "Up till now
I've always had spring drills; and it
really would be nice checking out
the new track facilities."
