Maryland's soccer team,
champion of the ACC, made it into
the finals in the NCAA
championship against Michigan
State last weekend. The game
regulation play ended in a 2-2 tie.
After two over time periods, all
allowed in soccer competition, the
score remained 2-2. In this case the
team with the greatest number of
corner kicks wins. Both teams had
the same number of corner kicks,
so Maryland and Michigan State
were declared national
co-champions.

Trigon Engineering society
defeated arch-rival Theta Tau
engineering fraternity in a hard
fought football battle Sunday
afternoon, 9-7. The winning score
was decided by a safety.

Bob Tallent, the scoring ace
from George Washington
University, was named the
Southern Conference player of the
week. Tallent's fine offensive
display was a prime cause for the
GW victory over Virginia last
Saturday night.

Six officials of the National
Football League have been
suspended for losing a down in
Sunday's Bears-Rams football
game. With time running out and
Los Angeles down 17-16, first
down with the ball on the Chicago
32, a holding penalty was called
against the Ram right tackle,
Charlie Cowan. The penalty for
holding is 15 yards from the point
of infraction. The down should
have remained the same, but for
some reason it became second
down.

Three incomplete passes later
the Bears took over the ball for the
remaining five seconds and
destroyed the Rams attempt for the
Coastal Division Championship.
