Matmen Seek Win
Over Blue Devils

By Bob Cullen
Cavalier Daily Staff Writer

A Virginia victory over Duke
is a rare occurrence in any sport—
but Coach Mike Caruso feels confident
that his wrestlers can duplicate
the swimmers' win last Monday
tonight in Durham, and make
it two within the week.

The grapplers' weakness in the
heavier weights has cost them their
last three matches to Maryland,
Westchester, and West Virginia.
Optimism for tonight's match centers
on the return of heavyweight
Rick Constantine and 167 pounder
Ted Moore.

Constantine is still hobbling on
a sprained ankle, but has shown
enough improvement to perhaps
justify an okay from the trainer.
Ted Moore will be returning from
a two month layoff due to an
injured knee. He will be rusty,
but his help is desperately needed.

The Cavaliers are solid up to
152 pounds, the pattern in prior
matches being to build up a sizable
early lead and dissipate it
in the final bouts. Charlie Sutton
leads off at 115 pounds, fresh from
a victory by a fall in the last
match with West Virginia.

He will be followed by the grapplers'
most consistent winner in
Dave Williams at 123. Jon
Shurberg will fill the 130 slot and
Chuck Wescott mans the 137 position.
First-year man John Pegues
at 145 and Pete Bright at 152
face the stiffest opposition Duke
is expected to provide in the persons
of Jim Dubar and Jim Van
Assle.
