Cavalier Gymnasts To Face
Indians In Initial Contest
Of Ten Scheduled Matches

Shooting for their first winning
season, the University's gymnasts
will face ten opponents this winter,
including two in Memorial Gymnasium.

Coach Ed Ehler, entering his
first season as coach, suspects that
his squad will show considerably
more depth and strength than has
been exhibited in the past.

The depth is due to an increase
in the membership of the
club. The fresh faces include Bill
Livingston, Fred Hufford, Steve
Sehaikewitz, Jim Whip, Steve Remine,
and Rich Lutz.

The strength rests in the most
welcome addition to the team,
transfer student Eric Adamson.
Adamson is a fine all-around performer
who has shown himself
capable of abetting co-captains
Dick Topping and Tim Fisher.

Topping and Fisher carry a great
deal of pressure in each meet,
but they have two years of experience
working for them. They
will be the backbone and leaders
of the team.

Coach Ehler will have some
surprises for his opponents and
Cavalier fans. This surprise will be
in the form of Mike Rosner on
the trampoline, Bob Simmons on
the high bar, and Chip "Mr.
Muscles" McIntosh on the still
rings.

As a wrap-up for the team's
outlook, Coach Ehler will be depending
on the services of first-year
men Rich Lutz and Steve
Remine.

Lutz has "outstanding" potential
on the sidehorse and parallel
bars.

Remine has exhibited "fantastic"
ability on the trampoline.
"They are naturals," comments
the coach.

The team will have an intrasquad
contest this Saturday at
2 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium,
featuring Dick Topping's "Firehouse
Seven" and Tim Fisher's
"Zoo Plateau." All interested
spectators are invited to ad
