The sparse crowd that
bothered to show up at
Friday's junior varsity debut
was given an exhibition in
contrasting in coaching
philosophies and pretty fair
football as the Maryland
Terrapins subdued the
Cavayearlings, 21-14.

Employing his starting
line-up for the entire game,
Terp Jayvee boss Dick Redding
relied primarily on his potent
ground attack, led by fullback
John Schultz, while Virginia
mentor Paul Fraim threw a
more balanced offense at his
adversaries and found time to
get everybody in the game,
including all four of his
quarterbacks.

Due to a lack of practice as
a team, the Cavs were plagued
at times by noticeable
disparities in timing and were
penalized several times for
illegal motion.

Fraim, however, eschewed
any excuses, placing the blame
for the loss on himself and his
staff for not having the team
