Council Endorses LINA

covered for accidents under LINA.
In addition, confine for diagnostic
purposes is not covered by Blue
Cross while it is covered fully under
LINA.

One of the only areas where
Blue Cross benefits for the student
seemed to be superior to LINA
benefits is the limits on room and
board. Under the Blue Cross plan, a
semi-private room and board plus
five dollars would be covered, while
under LINA, only a semi-private
room and board would be provided.

LINA Superior

In plans covering the student
and his or her spouse, the student
and child, of the student, spouse
and child, Mr. Mannix stated that
each plan had certain advantages
and disadvantages.

In reviewing the conditions of
both policies, Mr. Mannix stated
that he felt the LINA plan would
be more beneficial than the Blue
Cross plan in most areas for the
single student.

In suggesting how the students
could change from the Blue Cross
to the LINA plan if they had
already paid for the Blue Cross
plan, Mr. Mannix indicated that
Blue Cross had asked the students
in the summer letter to pay
approximately ten dollars for a two
month period beginning September
1.

Deadline Extended

Mr. Mannix stated that students
wishing to change to the LINA plan
can contact Blue Cross and tell
them that he or she does not want
to continue his coverage after
November 1.

In the meantime, he explained,
LINA has extended its deadline for
signing up for its Council-sponsored
plan until November 1 and students
can therefore sign up for this plan
on a pro-rata basis anytime before
that date. Information concerning
the signing up for the LINA plan
will be available at both the
Registrar's Office and in Memorial
Gymnasium during registration.
