Students Seek Advice
At Counseling Center
Having problems studying?
Wondering what to major in? Want
to know what careers are most akin
to your talents? Help in answering
these and other questions can be
found at the Guidance Counseling
Center here at the University.
Dr. Earl Glosser, the director,
and his staff are equipped to
inform, advise, and guide the
student in better understanding
himself, his education and his
potential for the future.
Dr. Glosser stresses the use of
the latest testing materials coupled
with evaluation by his skilled staff
to determine the likes and dislikes
and preferences of each student.
Then the center provides
information and guidance as to
what vocations and fields of study
coincide with the talents and
interests of the student.
As the name suggests, the
purpose of the center is to guide
and counsel, and not to give any
psychiatric help. Those students
having deep emotional or mental
problems will be referred to the
University Hospital.
The Guidance Counseling
Center is located in a small white
brick building behind Peabody
Annex and between Alderman
Library and Newcomb Hall.
Now in its second year here at
the University, the Center has
established itself as friend and
mentor to the student. As our
society becomes increasingly,
complex and specialized, the areas
of endeavor and opportunity have
expanded. But this leaves the
college student all the more
bewildered as to what the various
vocations consist of and where his
talents and interests can best be
used; thus the role of the Guidance
Counseling Center will continue to
grow at the University.
Cuba and the Democratic
Republic of Vietnam have signed an
economic and trade protocol for
1969, according to "Gramma," the
official organ of the Central
Committee of the Communist Party
of Cuba.
