IMs To Begin
Season Shortly

Intramural sports are a tradition
at the University and each year the
program improves and expands.

Several classes of competition
offered including the High Point
fraternity league, dorm leagues, and
several independent programs.

For the benefit of those who
evacuated Charlottesville early as
spring, the High Point
championship went right down the
wire with Phi Kap nipping Phi Delt
on the basis of a virtual sweep of the
badminton tourney. The Phi Delts
placed second to Sigma Nu in the
spring wrestling tournament and
won the Track meet on the new
Tartan facility.

Fall sports kick off with Sigma
Pi defending is touch football
crown with competition taking
place in Mad Bowl, on North and
South Stadium fields, and on
Nameless Field, next to Memorial
Gym.

The IM program, headed again
by Mr. John Laffley assisted by
Nevel DeHart, is basically divided
into fall, winter, and spring seasons,
each featuring as wide array of
athletic offerings.

In the fall, frustrated jocks from
around the University will be
competing in touch football, tennis,
the decathlon, and volleyball in the
fall. Winter brings a great increase
in the offerings of the IM slate with
squash, swimming, handball, three
and five man basketball, bowling,
and pool.

Softball heads the spring line
with wrestling, golf, putt-putt,
badminton, track and the annual
Stumblefoot Derby as the
attractions.
