U Hall Complex

Athletic teams at the University
may or may not have a winning
season this year, but some of the
teams can least look forward to
having new facilities to do it in.

A new eight-lane, one-and-a-half
million dollar, indoor swimming
pool has been started, but,
according to Barney Cooke,
Athletic Information Officer, it is
not expected to near completion
until the 1972-73 season. The
complex will include squash and
handball courts, wrestling rooms,
girls' locker rooms, and will be
attached to the Cage near
University Hall.

The rack, to the west of the
hall, will have a new Tartan surface
put on later this month, and a
baseball field, similar to the one at
Virginia Tech will be constructed
near the track. The soccer field,
long a soft spot in the University's
network, will be reworked and
reseeded.
