Harriers Seek Improvement
But Face Facts With Onesty
By Steve Giannini
Coach Lou Onesty is looking
forward to what may well be a
more successful cross country
season than the product of past
years. His squad will be marked by
promising second year men who
competed last year as freshmen in
touch collegiate competition. Some
second-year harriers will include
Wirth Hatcher, Craig Gardner, John
Moore, and Ross Thomas.
The top spot could go to several
individuals. Fourth year man Phil
Stafford is healthy after suffering
broken ankle in last season's spring
track. Frank LaVarre,
third year man who held down the
number 2 and 3 positions last year,
will be running for first position
this year.
A few first year men have already
expressed their desire to come out
for the team. Help may come from
the direction of two Richmond,
Virginia runners, Mike DeCamps
and Greg Lane. Two other
prospects from New Jersey are
Keith Lawder and Brew Barron.
Coach Onesty is interested in
anyone who wants to come out for
cross country. All first year men
who want to run should come by
Coach Onesty's office in University
Hall after their orientation meeting
there on September 8. The room is
the Track-Soccer office and the
number is 2-6.
