Law Professors Nabbed In Skyjack Caper

The wrong arm of the law
reached out last month and, for
a few moments, decided that a
member of the Law School
faculty might be, a skyjacker.

For good measure, his
traveling companion was also
detained. As a result, two
members of the faculty appear
to have agreed not to travel in
each other's company again.

The incident occurred as the
two, Profs. Walter J. Wadlington
and Charles H. Whitebread,
were returning from Boston
together last month and were
waiting to board their plane at
Logan International Airport.
When Mr. Wadington reached
the gate, he was informed that
he would "have to talk to one
of those men over there."

The official then pointed to
Mr. Whitebread and asked, "Is
he with you?" He was. "Then
he'll have to go, too." The
pair's tickets were taken away
and they were delivered to two
uniformed Customs agents
working as sky-marshals.

explained to me that I had
