Sert Awarded Jefferson Medal

Visiting Professor Of Architecture

Noted architect and educator, Jose
Luis Sert, will deliver the main address
and receive the Thomas Jefferson
Memorial Foundation medal in
architecture at the University's Founder's
Day program on April 13.

The annual ceremonies, this year
commemorating the 228th birthday of
University founder, Thomas Jefferson, will be
held in Cabell Hall at 11 a.m.

Also included in the program will be
presentation of the annual Thomas Jefferson
Award to an outstanding member of the
University community and the first scholarship
offered by the Arthur P. "Pete" Gray IV
Foundation. The scholarship is in memory of
the 1968 University graduate from Richmond
who was killed last summer in Vietnam.

Mr. Sert, former dean of the Harvard
Graduate School of Design and Thomas
Jefferson Memorial Foundation Professor of
Architecture at the University this semester, is
the first architect to address a Founder's Day
audience.
