Panthers, Patriots Speak Tonight
Members of the Black Panther Party
and the Patriot Party will speak tonight at
8 in Maury Hall Auditorium.
The speakers, from Washington's Rainbow
Coalition, will outline party platforms
and philosophy. Recent police
raids on Patriot and Panther headquarters
will also be discussed and an interview with
Bobby Seale, filmed in Chicago during the
Chicago 7 trial, will be shown.
The Panther Party has recently been
working in the Rainbow Coalition with the
Patriots, a white revolutionary group. Together
they serve the working people through projects
such as free breakfast programs for children,
liberation schools, free firewood and coal, and
day care centers.
The Panther and Patriot Parties both
embrace the philosophy that working class
people of all races must unite to end the
"American capitalist and imperialist exploitation"
of poor peoples around the world.
The Panthers have recently received much
publicity concerning police raids on their
headquarters in various cities around the
country, most notably in Chicago, where
Panthers have charged that the police "murdered"
their Illinois leader, Fred Hampton, in
his bed.
