Five Engineers
To Represent
First Year Class

From over fifty initial applicants
the Engineering Council
has chosen five to represent the
first-year engineering class on
the Engineering Council.

The five men selected are Jim
Witt, Jack Copper, Doug
Ward, John Beeghley, and Dave
Kunsman. These five men were
chosen after two series of interviews
conducted by the Engineering
Council.

This is the first time that first-year
men have had a seat on the
Council. In the past first-year
men have served in an advisory
position only. The Council said,
however, that as the first-year
class is the largest class in the
Engineering School and as the
first-year class has many problems,
as evidenced by the higher
attrition rate in the first-year
class, first-year men should be
given both a voice and a vote
on the Council.

The Engineering Council said
the addition of these five men
will make it a more representative
body in the Engineering
School.

The Council believes that
through this first-year representation,
it will be more aware of the
problems confronting first-year
engineering students and will
then be able to use its influence
in formulating solutions to these
problems.
