Players Open
New Workshop
The Virginia Players will officially open on
Sunday their new workshop theater. The Studio,
in the basement of Cocke Hall, with two
one-act plays.
The new studio theater, a necessity for the
Players' expanding production activity, will
accommodate arena, thrust, and proscenium
staging and provide greater flexibility in
actor-audience relationships than possible in
proscenium theater.
The Studio's inaugural productions starting
at 3 p.m. will be Tim Kelly's While Shakespeare
Slept, directed by Lisi Skeels, and Piccadilly
Two-Stroke, an original play by fourth-yearman
Jim Carrington, directed by Mark Pilkinton.
Admission to workshop productions is free for
students and 60 cents for others.
