Home Of The Shifflettes, One Family Of Many Who Are Helped By Madison Hall Volunteers

Madison Hall is in desperate need of volunteers.
Some 22 local organizations have already
arranged programs to utilize committed volunteers
to meet the need for services in the
Charlottesville area.

In one typical incident, a local minister
reports that the Shifflettes, a mother and four
children living in a three room log cabin on 29
South, have just lost their father and that they
need someone to help them prepare for the
winter. They have only a wood stove and need
to fill the holes in their cabin with plaster.
Volunteers are now answering the call.

Madison Hall says that the need for such
volunteers is tremendous. There is a real hope
that students, who have two hours per week to
share, will initiate the action by contacting
Madison Hall and get involved. There is also a
need for qualified personnel to fill administrative
positions. You can help people like the
Shifflettes by attending the meeting tonight in
the South Meeting Room of Newcomb Hall at 8
p.m.
