Williams Reminds Students
Of Property Use Policies

In order to provide maximum opportunity
for all members of the student
body to participate freely in the University
community, D. Alan Williams reminds
them of the provisions listed in
part below governing the use of University
property by students have been
established by President Shannon:

1. "University space is available to any
student or group of students for use in a
manner which is not physically destructive,
which is not unlawful, which does not
discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color,
national origin, or sex, and which does not
disrupt academic activities, scheduled events,
University functions, and other normal pursuits
that take place in the area.

2. "The Dean of Student Affairs, or other
persons designated by the President, is authorized
to ask any students who are using or
occupying University space in a manner that is
inconsistent with the provision in Paragraph
one to leave.

3. "University space can and should be
reserved in order to assure its availability.
Available space can be reserved at the
Registrar's Office.

4. "When University space has been reserved
or is in use, students who wish to communicate
to those in attendance will be permitted to do
so in a manner that does not disrupt the
activity in progress, and that does not
physically interfere with or harass those who
are invited to attend.

5. "The Dean of Student Affairs, in
co-operation with those who have reserved
space, may develop and make available in
advance specific provisions to govern student
conduct at a given event.

6. "The Dean of Student Affairs, or other
persons designated by the President, is authorized
to ask any students who engage in
conduct that is inconsistent with provisions 4
and 5 to leave."
