Speakers To Discuss Philosophers, 'New Humanity'

Frankel Opens Graduate Lectures

Charles Frankel, Assistant

Secretary of State for Educational
and Cultural Affairs, will
open the new graduate lecture
series at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday with
a discussion of the responsibilities
of philosophers and intellectuals.

The lecture will be in the
graduate lounge on the West
Range. Mr. Frankel is the first
of 12 lecturers to speak in the
series which is sponsored by the
Graduate School of Arts and
Science and the philosophy department.

Mr. Frankel, professor of
philosophy at Columbia University,
has taught at the University
of Dublin, Bennington College
and Ohio University. He
has served as a Guggenheim
Fellow, a Fulbright Research
Professor and a Carnegie Corporation
Reflective Year Fellow,
and is a recipient of the
Woodbridge Prize in Philosophy.

His published works include
"The Faith of Reason" and "The
Golden Age of American Philosophy."
