Ride-Along To Continue In Fall

The Ride-Along Program,
sponsored jointly by the
Charlottesville Police
Department and Madison Hall,
has been discontinued
temporarily, Madison Hall
Director Rick Noble and
Charlottesville Police Chief
John DeK. Bowen announced
recently.

Mr. Noble said that the
program may begin again
within a few weeks, and it will
definitely begin again in the
fall.

Under Ride-Along, students
come by Madison Hall to sign
up to ride around the city with
a policeman on his beat for
several hours. It was begun to
better relations between
students and police officers.

Mr. Bowen said recently
that some police officers had
felt hindered psychologically
by the presence of a student
when they were trying to make
arrests.

Council

Student Council President
Larry Sabato and Council Vice
President Mark Vorder
Bruegge will be in the Council's
offices, on the 4th floor of
Newcomb Hall thorough out
the summer. Any student
interested in working with
Council or having any
problems are urged to contact
Council at 924-3454, or come
by the offices.

War Movie

Medicine and War, a slide show,
will be shown tomorrow at
7:30 p.m. in room 4B of
Newcomb Hall. The film
examines medical care in
various parts of Indochina, and
is free of charge, although
contributions to Medical Aid
to Indochina (MAI) will be
ented.

Next Wednesday, a
book sale will be held from 11
a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wesley
Foundation, 1908 Lewis
Mountain Rd.

Beer Bust

All students are invited to a
beer bust Friday in Mary
Munford Lounge from 7 to
10:30 p.m. Admission is 50
cents.

Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid
to Students is now located in
Room 341, Mechanical
Engineering Building.

Watermelon

On July 4 there will be a
free watermelon party from
4-8 p.m. Activities include
softball, volleyball and frisbees.
The party will be held behind
Memorial Gym.
