Engineering Council Petition Deadline Extended

The deadline for candidates
to file for candidacy for the
Engineering Council has been
extended to Thursday. All
candidates must come to a
mandatory meeting at 4 p.m.
Thursday in Student Council
Offices, Fourth Floor
Newcomb Hall.

Campaigning

Campaigning for all Student
Council elections has begun,
and is allowed from 7 to 11 p.m.
tonight, tomorrow night, and
Thursday night, as well as
Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday
nights of next week in the
dormitories.Campaign hours
will be strictly enforced.

Economics Honors

All second-year students
interested in the Economics
Honors program should see
Prof. William Breit in B-22,
Rouss Hall.

'Russia Behind Bars'

Erica Wallach, author of
"Light at Midnight", describing
her five-year experience in
Communist prisons and forced
labor camps, will speak on
"Russia from Behind Bars"
today at 4 p.m. in Room 301
Wilson Hall.

Her speech is sponsored by
the History Department and
the Center for Russian and
East European Studies. The
public is invited, free of charge.

Archaeological Society

The Charlottesville Society
of the Archaeological Institute
of America will sponsor a
speech by Harvard Prof.
Lawrence E. Stager on
"Excavations at Idalion in
Cyprus 1971-72" at its final
meeting of the year at 8
tonight in 160 Campbell Hall.
The public is invited.

Committees

Tomorrow is the deadline
for filing student applications
to University administrative
committees. Students who are
now committee members must
reapply to remain on
committees.

Hartt Rescheduled

The third speaker of the
Union informal series, Prof.
Frederick Hartt, chairman of
the Art Dept., will speak on
Picasso next Tuesday, April 24
at 7:30 p.m. instead of tonight
as previously scheduled.

Job-Hunting Techniques

An informal discussion on
job-hunting techniques for
women will be held every
Tuesday at 3 p.m. today
through May 29 in the
Career Planning and Placement
Office in Minor Hall.

History Club

The annual History Club
book sale will be held
tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. in Randall Hall. All
members of the University
community are welcome.

Restoration Ball

Invitations to the Tent
Annual Restoration Ball to be
held Saturday May 5, will go
on sale tomorrow from
5:30-7:30 p.m. in the
Rotunda.

Student tickets are $15 per
couple, guest tickets are $20
per couple and patron tickets
are $35 per couple.

Poetry Contest

The Academy of American
Poets is offering again this year
a $100 prize for the best poem
or group of poems submitted
by a University student. There
is no restriction on number,
form, or word length or
individual poems, but students
should not submit more than
120 lines of poetry overall.
Poems may be turned in to 115
Wilson Hall. Deadline is April
23.

Course Changes

The Art Department has
announced schedule changes
for courses listed in the Fall
1973 Schedule of Classes
Directory.

Section 2 of Art 61 will
now meet at 0900-1200 TT and
sections 4 and 5 of the same
course have been deleted. Art
67 has been rescheduled for
0900-1200 MW and Art 70 will
now meet at 0900-1200 WF.

Assoc. Art Prof. Eugene D.
Markowaki will replace Asst.
Art Prof. Paul Martick as the
instructor for Art 71 and Asst.
Art Prof. Michael
Christopherson will replace
Asst. Art Prof. James G. Hagan
as the instructor for section 1
and section 4 of Art 81.

Art 81, section 3, will now
meet at 1500 - 1800 TT. Art
77 has been rescheduled for
1500-1800 MW and Art 79 will
now be held at 1200-1500 TT.
Art 83, section 1, will now
meet at 1200-1800 F. Section
2 of Art 83 has been deleted.

The instructor for Art 97 is
Mr. Christopherson and Art 51
will meet at 100-1050 MWF.

Raven Society

The Raven Society will
sponsor a speech by Lewis
Ballou on the Rotunda
restoration project tonight at 8
in Jefferson Hall. The public is
invited.

Parris To Speak

Eighth District
Congressman Stan Parris will
speak tonight on "Politics '73:
Impoundment of Funds" in
Clark Hall Lounge at 7:30. The
Law School Republican Club
will sponsor his address, which
is open to the public.
